Cardiology

Diagnostic Service - ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) records the electrical signal from your heart to check for different heart conditions. Electrodes are placed on your chest to record your heart's electrical signals, which cause your heart to beat. The signals are shown as waves on an attached computer monitor or printer.

Normal range 120 – 200 ms (3 – 5 small squares on ECG paper). QRS duration (measured from first deflection of QRS complex to end of QRS complex at isoelectric line). Normal range up to 120 ms (3 small squares on ECG paper).

Diagnostic Service - Echocardiography

Echocardiography is a test that uses sound waves to produce live images of your heart. The image is called an echocardiogram. This test allows your doctor to monitor how your heart and its valves are functioning. The images can help them get information about: blood clots in the heart chambers.

An echocardiogram checks how your heart's chambers and valves are pumping blood through your heart. An echocardiogram uses electrodes to check your heart rhythm and ultrasound technology to see how blood moves through your heart.

Diagnostic Service - Stress Test

In a Stress Test exercise, a patient walks on a treadmill and his /her heart rhythm, blood pressure and breathing are monitored. It helps to detects coronary artery disease or irregular heart rhythm.

Patients should have light food at least 4 hours prior to the test. If the patient is undergoing any medication that should be told to doctor as it can change the result of the test. A relative should accompany him/her. Doctor’s prescription and ECG is mandatory. Patients must bring all previous diagnostic or operative reports & film.

Diagnostic Service - Holter Monitoring

A holter monitoring is a continuous tape recording of a patient’s ECG. Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that can detect irregularities in your heart rhythm.

For male patients chest hair must be shaved up to navel. It is advised to have bath or shower before the procedure starts. All patients must bring their original voter id and previous diagnostic or operative reports & film. Usually, the number of hours that the patient has to wear the device is predetermined by the doctor. Admission is advised for 24 or more hours holter monitoring.

Diagnostic Service - BP Ambulatory

Model: Ge Prodigy Advance
Features

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) measures blood pressure at regular intervals. It is believed to be able to reduce the white coat hypertension effect in which a patient's blood pressure is elevated during the examination process due to nervousness and anxiety caused by being in a clinical setting.

Twenty-four-hour ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM) is a precise method to quantify BP levels and diagnose HTN. Recent studies showed that 24-h ABPM is more accurate than office BP measurements in predicting cardiovascular morbidity and mortality (3–6).

Diagnostic Service - PFT

Pulmonary function tests (PFT) are conducted to assess the strength and functional efficiency of lungs along with the nature of air circulated in the respiratory system. These set of tests are highly important for patients who suffer from breathing problems, asthma and breathlessness.

Since a complete PFT routine involves a combination of departmental tests like chest X ray, blood gas analysis, breathing test and more. Patients are required to take certain easy measures to facilitate completion of the test.
